Cyberpunk 2077: Latest News
Cyberpunk 2077 looks set to be one of the biggest games of the year. If creators, CD Projekt Red, can build on the success of The Witcher 3 – which recently passed 50 million copies sold – then we could be in for one of the most successful games of all time. So what’s the latest news on Cyberpunk 2077?
Side Quests
Side quests played a huge part in the Witcher 3 and were a welcome distraction from the main questline. Whether it was fighting ghouls or recovering a stolen frying pan, side quests had a huge amount of lore, loot and murder. Many of these quests were more memorable than the game’s story and we expect nothing less from Cyberpunk 2077.
In fact, according to the developers, side quests in Cyberpunk 2077 will have even more depth to them. They will form a more natural part of the game which will hopefully hype up the realism and immersion. For example, side quests will not cancel due to player actions in game; this will only trigger when the player dies.
So if you want to visit a fast food restaurant while you’re being shot at or run in the opposite direction, you can! This allows each play through to be even more unique and special, allowing you to play in whichever way you choose without consequence. Well, without failing the quest anyway!
It also creates a more authentic world around you and further blurs the line between gaming and reality which can only be a plus! Especially as we move into next gen gaming. More on that HERE!
Sounds good. But when is it out???
Initially, Cyberpunk 2077 was due for release in April of this year. However, it has now been delayed until the 17th September. Hopefully this can only be a good thing as the developers have given themselves more time to fine tune and squash bugs! The game will be released on Xbox One, PS4, PC and, by the end of the year, Google Stadia.
Upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 News
On the 24th June, CD Projekt Red will be hosting a big event, Night City Wire. This is expected to be a significant date for the game as developers are likely to show off much more of what’s in store.
Originally the event was scheduled for the 11th June but, due to ongoing tensions in America and the rest of the world, CD Projekt Red decided to postpone stating that “more important discussions were happening right now”. This is of course in reference to the Black Lives Matter movement ignited by the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis recently.
