Fastest Way to Earn XP and Shards in Horizon Zero Dawn

Whether you are having trouble taking down stormbirds or you just want to feel like the ultimate powerhouse; this guide will show you the fastest way to earn xp and shards in Horizon Zero Dawn.

Step One: Spurflints Hunting Grounds

You are going to want to head to the Spurflint Hunting Grounds, pictured below. 

You will need to complete all of the trials here, achieving a Blazing Sun in each.

Step Two: Sleight of Crate Trial

The mission we are going to grind for this expliot is the Sleight of Crate Trial. 

This trial is incredibly easy to complete and the whole thing can be done under two minutes. The trial tasks you with looting four crates, typically carried by Shellwalkers. 

This mission is intended to be a stealth mission but because being spotted doesn’t affect your score at all, the only thing you need to worry about is time.

Next head down the zip-line, sprint straight for the crates and loot them. The Shellwalkeres are grouped together in three’s meaning you can loot the initial three then run directly left to the next group, looting one and completing the trial.

Step Three: Collect Your Reward

As Long as you completed the trial in 50 second or less, which you should have no problem with using our technique, return to the trial giver and he will give you the easiest 10000 XP and 45 Metal Shards you have ever earned!

From here, you can rinse and repeat the process as much as you like. There is no cap on how many times you can complete the trial and earn the reward, meaning you can keep going until you are completely maxed out!
