How to make money in the Witcher 3 – Best Witcher 3 Money Exploit 2020.
Looking to make money quickly in the Witcher 3, eh? Fed up with villagers paying you pennies to take down a Chort? Flabbergasted by the cost of upgrading your armour? Had too much fun at the Passiflora? Well look no further! Here is the best way to make money quickly with the least amount of effort in the Witcher 3!
More money? Yes please!
First off you need to be able to access the Witcher home of Kaer Morhan. This is opened up to you at the beginning of Act 2. If you’re not that far in the game yet then check out our all levels money making guide HERE.
Unlocked Kaer Morhan? Ok, let’s get to it!
Step 1.
Fast travel to Kaer Morhen and more specifically the fast travel point of either Kaer Morhen itself or Bastion to the west. Your target is the ruined tower circled in red on the map below. (Personally I prefer running from the Bastion fast travel point as there is far less chance of falling to your death and you don’t have to contend with any irritating cliffs on the way up from the Kaer Morhen fast travel point!)
Step 2.
Follow the path up to the tower (marked by the red circle on the map above) and climb up the ruined stone wall in front of you until you see a ladder on the left hand side of the ruined tower.
Step 3.
Climb the first ladder. At the top of the ladder you should see a skeleton lying on the ground with the option to ‘loot’. You will see a sword named the ‘Pang of Conscience’ and a letter of apology. This sword is worth 522 gold to the right merchant and can be looted multiple times. You can loot both items if you wish.
Step 4.
After looting the sword, save your game! Then, load the save that you just made. Try looting the skeleton again and the sword will be back! Pick the sword up again and save again. You can repeat this as many times as you like but working on the basis that the sword weighs 2.36, you can carry roughly 40 swords per 100 carry weight. 40 swords at 522 coins a piece equals a whopping 21,760 gold per trip!
Step 5.
When you have had your fill of picking up expensive, respawning swords, you should head on over to a blacksmith. The most profitable blacksmith found so far is the blacksmith in Tousaint closely followed by the grandmaster smith also found in Tousaint (part of the Witcher 3 DLC Blood and Wine) if you have access to it. If not, you can also sell to the smiths in Novigrad.
The most profitable smith is circled in blue with the grandmaster smith circled in red.
Extra tips and tricks.
The benefit of selling to the smiths in Tousaint is not only their higher buying price but also that they have a large reserve of gold which means you can sell more swords. Furthermore, if the smiths money does run out you can simply meditate for at least 5 in game days to replenish their reserves.
Finally, if you are clever and look for an area such as the marketplace in Toussaint or the main square in Novigrad, you can visit multiple vendors every 5 in game days to speed up your selling. Prices seem to range from 430 in Novigrad to 522 in Tousaint depending on who you are selling to. And as another tip, stay away from selling in Skellige! The islanders there don’t care for your foreign steel and can offer as little as 316 coins!
And there you have it, how to make money in the Witcher 3! Let us know in the comments below if you find a more profitable vendor and what you’re going to spend your new found wealth on!
