How To Unlock The Full Map At The Beginning Of Ghost of Tsushima

Those of you familiar with the Ghost of Tsushima will know that you are kept to the South Island of the map for the first third of the game. If you try and go there, you’ll find yourself very quickly hitting problems. There is, however, a way to get to Toyotama and on to Kamiagata from the very beginning! Here’s how to unlock the full map at the beginning of Ghost of Tsushima.

Head Towards The Bridge

Following the prologue at the beginning of the game, head over to the bridge. This is the bridge you are thrown from by Khotun Khan that separates Izuhara and Toyotama.

Approach from the East

Typically you can’t swim underneath the bridge so get to the closest possible point on the shore just East of the bridge.

The east side of the bridge that you should head towards.

Begin Swimming!

Head straight towards the North Island, turning towards its East side. There will be a sand bank you can stand on, just out of view. Continue along this side of the island – you should be able to carry on hugging the cliff wall, using the sand banks to avoid drowning.

Find The Pillar Of Honour

As a little bonus, make sure to find this fast travel point. After a while of walking along the island you’ll come across a shore. This is a Pillar of Honour! Getting here will save you from having to swim there again you wish to visit the North island.

And that was how to unlock the full map at the beginning of Ghost of Tsushima, that’s all there is to it! The Northern areas are a fair bit tougher, so first-time players – beware. Now get out there and find Khotun Khan!
