Step 1
Firstly, there’s a few requirements for the method before you begin. Ensure that you have completed the game and are in a new game plus mode. You’ll also need the Cindered Shadows DLC which is accessible only through the Expansion Pack which you’ll have to purchase. Thankfully, in order to perform the exploit, you’ll only need to have reached Chapter Five of Part One. This will grant you access to where you need to be, which is The Abyss. Also, make sure you have plenty of Renown to your name. This exploit requires you to have at least 66000 Renown. Rest assured though, it’s a worthy investment for unlimited Gold and Renown!
Step 2
You need to have unlocked the Marketplace area, particularly the Southern Merchant. This can be achieved by upgrading The Abyss. Speak with the Influencer and buy Inspire Worship. It costs 500 Renown and now means you can buy items from the Pagan Altar.
Step 3
Now, head to the Pagan Altar. Select ‘Offer Renown’ and find the Abyssian Exam Pass item. They’re unlimited in quantity, so don’t worry about running out. Buy 88 of them. This will, supposedly, set you back 66000 renown. However, once you follow through with the transaction, an unpatched glitch occurs which brings the total down to just 464. Complete the transaction and you’ll still acquire all 88 Exam Passes, but you won’t have as much of a dent in your wallet!
Step 4
Go to the Monastery and head to the Market. There’ll be a blacksmith who you can sell the Exam Passes to. Sell him all 88 for 8800 Gold. In the same market, find the Southern Merchant. From him, using the 8800 you just made, buy 88 Fodlan Seeds; it doesn’t matter whether they’re Northern, Southern or Eastern. Now, head back to the Abyss and go to the Pagan Altar. Offer all 88 seeds you just purchased. In return, you’ll receive 880 Renown, despite having only spent 464 to begin with! From here, you can buy another 88 Abyssian Exam Passes and repeat the process as much as you wish to!
