Man of Medan: Get The ‘Good’ Ending
Dark Pictures: The Man of Medan is all about choices. Snap decisions and QTE’s are the only thing that stand between the Duke’s crew and death. If you can do the QTE’s flawlessly but struggle to make the right choices then this is the guide for you. Here’s what you need to do if you want Alex, Brad, Conrad, Fliss and Julia to survive and to get the ‘Good’ ending!
Man of Medan: Here’s How To Get The ‘Good’ Ending
The Basics
In order to avoid anyone’s untimely passing, you’re going to need to nail the QTE’s and not kill any of the ghosts or monsters in the game. Often the apparitions are the ghost ship tricking you into killing your friends. Moreover, it’s also important to find as many items and secrets as you can as this keeps your characters sane.
The Decisions
Here, in the order they appear, are the story beats you’ll need to hit:
1 – During the dive, Alex has to propose to Julia. Juia has to say yes.
2 – Stop Julia from surfacing too quickly. This will stop her from getting the bends.
3 – When given the chance, Conrad needs to stay on the Duke instead of stealing the pirate’s boat.
4 – During ‘Intrusion’ Brad needs to remain hidden. Later on, during ‘Finding Friends’ he has to find the gas mask.
5 – In ‘Ritual’, Fliss has to go outside to clear her head.
6 – After leaving the radio room, pick up the Rebreather.
7 – Find Danny’s corpse in the lower decks and search it for the engagement ring. (This may not be necessary to survival, but does influence the ending)
8 – Convince Junior that the mist is inside him. You will need the Rebreather for this.
Optional scenes
These scenes might not necessarily happen, depending on your choices. If they do, here’s how to get out of them alive.
1 – If you end up in the Flooded Cargo Hold, it’s possible to escape Olson and not die.
2 – Instead, you can end up in the kitchen. In this case, make sure Alex isn’t bitten by rats and that he keeps a hold of the distributor caps. Don’t pick up the knife either, as this will allow Alex to kill the second character that comes down with him.
If you manage that, all of the crew (and Junior the pirate!) will sail back to the Duke. If you picked up the engagement ring, Alex will put it on Julia’s finger. Supposing you gave the military your coordinates, two soldiers will arrive and be beaten to death by Danny.
