Fortnite: Doomsday Event

So the doomsday event finally happened after weeks and weeks of delays. A new era for Fortnite players began after the Device ‘Doomsday’ event took place tonight.

The Water Wall

So the most talked about topic of this event was, whether the Fortnite map would be underwater for the new Chapter. Although the map isn’t fully underwater yet. The event surely made a massive change to the map that can assure us our guesses were in fact correct. The whole map is now surrounded by a huge wall of water (seen below)

This is one drastic change to the game that we can confirm is coming. Approaching the wall and going inside, You will suddenly be swimming, Sounds great? Well, this wall of water does act as a new zone and will start chipping away at your health 10 points at a time. 

What else? 

Alongside this, we can also see that the center of the map will eventually be submerged in water. This is no clear indication but if you check the water, You will see a few more species, and sometimes a shark or two may appear. These may be easter eggs and hints to it being a completely underwater season. New character models and accessories have not been leaked or modded into the current Chapter. But these little fishes may be the first hint into what to expect in the new Frontier for Fortnite players.

Another great part of this event was the Office scene. The first person view and folders saying ‘TOP SECRET’ suggests a lot more is on the horizon for the Fortnite game. The appearance of Jonesy and conversation from outside the Window. Did you hear what was being said? If not then read the full dialogue below. 

Here is the full dialogue:

Uh, no. E- everything is NOT stable over here. We are act– (to Janice) Uh, Janice! Janice! Uh, dial the Resonance Actuator to 7.2. Now. Please. yes, right now. (to phone) Wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold on, hold on… “It’s not just a storm?” What does that mean? Must be connected to the loop, but there’s no way we could have predicted that it would react THIS way. At this–

And that worked? How long do you think it will hold? Good, good. Everything is uh, starting to stabilize here. Nothing seems to be– …What the…? How are you even– Wait… Wait, wait, wait. Can you- can you HEAR me?

This dialogue basically states that the wall is a temporary fix from the event and will soon come crashing down when Season 3 starts. So. What were your thoughts on the Doomsday event? Did it have to much hype around it and left loads disappointed? Or did it live up to expectations?
