ShadedStep, the second best Warzone player in the world shared his strategy recently in a video with JGOD. ShadedStep, if you don’t know who he is, is the number 2 Warzone player in the world. With over 1,600 wins, a KD between 4 – 5, and over 3,100 matches played, you can see why he’s one of the best.
He currently wins around 70% of the games he plays, in a recent stream he played 38 games, and won 29 of them.
It’s easy to attribute all of these wins to pure skill, and write off any chances at getting this good, right? Wrong! ShadedStep has a strategy, and luckily for you, we’ve got it below.
It’s worth mentioning that all of these steps apply regardless of the size of your team.
Everybody has a specific strategy when dropping out of the plane into Verdansk, but isn’t it time you did it like a professional?
ShadedStep and co drop out of the plane, and they head for the safest helicopter to take. If possible, they take two helicopters (if it’s more than duos).
This is for two reasons. Firstly, you won’t have to worry about the gas when traversing Verdansk. Secondly, you need to make as much money as possible, as quickly as possible. Which brings us on to the next step.
The next step shouldn’t come as a surprise to frequent Warzone players.
ShadedStep drops into a safe looking area with his team, loots up, and aims to grab a recon.
Recons are extremely quick to get done, and the time cuts in half when you’re all in helicopters. The reward money also increases the each time.
The aim here is to get enough money for a loadout, a killstreak, a self revive, and an ammo or armour box. This means for every player!
Once they have their choppers, ShadedStep and his team drop at Port, Prison, or anywhere with little chance to run into people, with a decent amount of loot boxes.
Try to get a surplus of money after buying the equipment you need, as it’s frustrating in the late game when having to scrape enough money to get a friend back.
If one friend has $13,000 and the other has $400, split the money between the team. Nine times out of then, the player with the most money will end up dying and losing it all anyway.
A step that most say they do. I’ve played enough games of Warzone (way too many) to know that players don’t stick together. Even if it’s the plan at the start, somebody will always run off for loot, or something similar.
If all players are actively trying to stick together, and are making choices as a team, you’ll have a much better chance. The fact there are plenty of teams that don’t stick together, means your team will always come out on top.
ShadedStep and his team walk into an ambush just as much as any other player, sometimes it can’t be avoided. Ensuring your team are all behind cover will help them come out on top. Most players in a full team get cocky and rush, leaving themselves exposed to players who have an adequate amount of cover.
The best position in every scenario is the high ground. Always try to find high ground and cover!
Firstly, I personally go for an overkill loadout first, and then a ghost loadout second. But, ShadedStep goes for ghost both times.
This way, when the loadout drops, he’s already got ghost, and won’t show up on the minimap for players looking to hunt by the loadout box.
The weapons of choice are a mix between SMG’s and Assault Rifles for the first loadout, and then sniper rifles in the second.
One player should run a heart beat sensor, while the rest should have flash, smokes, etc.
Your team should be consistently shouting at each other to notify you where enemy players are. The pinging system is great, but it doesn’t have the same urgency as your voice. Shouting and pinging is a great way to keep ahead of the opposition.
A lot of players don’t think about this, but kills are not the main aim of a battle royale game. The goal is to win. ShadedStep actually only gets an average of 7.5 kills per game. This is lower than plenty of streamers that normally hit that 20+ mark per game. Although that is incredibly impressive, those same streamers aren’t winning 70% of their games.
Only fighting when necessary is the best way to win in Warzone.
Those moments where you and your squad are sat on a roof, and one guy asks ‘should we rush them?’ the answer should always be no. Play smart!
If you followed all of ShadedSteps tips, you and your team should be fully stacked, and you should know where the final circle is going to be.
The only thing left to do, is to find cover on the highest position in the final circle, and then get out those snipers. Always have one team member watching close by with an assault rifle. Positioning yourselves in the mountains by an out of bounds area is the best play. But, the circle doesn’t always let you do this.
If that’s the case, find a building, and get ready to rain down bullets, clusters, and everything else to secure that dub.
Although the second video is for Season 5, it still works now!
