Star Wars Squadrons: That’s No Shooter. It’s A Flight Simulator!
Star Wars has no fans. It has cultists. Never before a Hollywood franchise went to the point of seeing real, official churches scattered across an entire continent, devoted to the philosophy and mystic powers of the movies. As one may well imagine, there have been a lot of games related to Star Wars in the last 40 years, and none can deny that this latest implementation, Star Wars Squadrons, does look gorgeous.
Your Schwartz Is Big, But You Have To Handle It
Surely, when the love for a series becomes a way of life, there can be pluses and minuses. Closing one or both eyes to the real world and trying to lift buses with the Force can be good, but the disappointment for not succeeding in doing so may be bitter. There might be disappointment to purchase Star Wars Squadrons if you are a hardcore fan that wants to pew-pew his or her way through a galaxy far, far away with the chirping of a droid in the backseat.
The Brain Use You Will, And The Force, Your Anger, Not
As the title says, this is not a shooter. And that doesn’t mean the blasters on your spaceship are for show only. They work very well, on the contrary! This game almost reminds me of the Jurassic 16 bit era of games, when masterpieces like F16 Falcon were released in all their 10 fps glory. The whole process of learning how to activate the plane, take off, control and bring missions to fulfilment was nothing short of awesome in a time that patience was not a costly optional.
League of Legends Accounts and SkinsNo Disturbing Lack Of Patience Allowed
This guide is meant to make you enjoy this game, even if you hate Star Wars from the bottom of your heart. Oh, wait, if you hate Star Wars it means you have no heart at all, and that is fine too, nowadays. This is a simulator. This is not the kind of game you can distractly play whilst trotting your plastic Lightsabre out and sipping on full sugar Coca Cola. If you think you’re a Jedi and you know exactly how avionics work in the galaxy, go ahead, this is your chance to prove it. If you are a fledgling and you’re avid to learn the secrets of ace piloting, this is also your time to shine. But in both cases you’ll need to be patient and fly with your head, not with your gonads.
Know Thine Rodon Brenting
All single seat starships are built with the same technology and sport an ionisation reactor to provide energy to the three main systems: Engine, Shields and Weapons. The reactor can provide only a certain amount of power, regardless of the ship you choose, and it is up to the pilot (eg. you) to distribute it in the best possible way. Another call to maturity of this game is that it’s not all or nothing. You can distribute energy evenly while assessing the situation, and then power up the section that needs it the most.
Assigning more energy to the engine your vehicle will be more maneuverable, will turn faster and better and the boost will push your eyes till the back of your head. That will be very useful when reaching an ally in distress, dashing through the sn… Space debris, or legging your way out of a situation you can’t handle.
Weaponry, on the other hand, is beam type. It accelerates minuscule particles and focuses them through an energy crystal and shoots them right where it hurts, melting even the hardest of the alloys. (But not Darth Vader.) So, assigning more energy to the blaster will greatly improve the fire rate and the effectiveness of the shots.
Shields are the invisible friend we all want. And guess what, the more energy you assign to them, the better they will keep you from becoming a Krayt Dragon’s roast dinner. Nice touch being able to use the scroll wheel to select where shields need to be at their best, front, centre or rear.
Pull That Trigger Only When You Have To
Know your ship and fly it according to your role. If you pilot a bomber, stop engaging everyone like Buffalo Bill and keep your eyes on the target while fighters and support ships keep the situation as clean as possible, and then drop that big boy and see it shine. And patient. Be patient.
