Animal Crossing: New Horizons Item Duplication August 2020!

Here’s the best news you’ll hear all week, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a new item duplication glitch! It works on ANY item, stacks of gold, furniture, animals, you name it, you can copy it. To execute this you’re going to need a friend online to work with you (and that you trust so they don’t steal your duplications) via Dodo Code. You’re also going to need items to duplicate, lets go! 

Glitch confirmed to be working 03/08/20

Step 1 

First off, get the items you’d like to duplicate, the Dodo code from your friend, and head over to the airport to travel to your friends island. YOU NEED TO BE THE VISITOR.

Step 2

Head over to a spot near your friend where you can easily drop your items and they can easily pick them up, but don’t actually do that yet! Wait for the automatic save symbol in the top right corner. 

Step 3 

Once the game has finished autosaving, drop the items you want to duplicate and get your friend to pick them up. You want to do this quickly, before the second autosave. 

Step 4

This is the potentially difficult part that you might not get the first time, so just keep trying. As soon as you see the auto save symbol appear again, quickly cut the Switch’s connection to the internet. This could be by turning on aeroplane mode, sending it to sleep through the home page, or some people have the dock directly connected to the router, so if that’s the case then just pull the Switch straight out. 

You want to do this as quickly as possible and definitely before the autosave finishes. Also, only you need to do this, not your friend. 

Step 5

As soon as you’ve disconnected your switch from the internet, you’ll want to reconnect it. When you get back in to ACNH, it should come up with a notice about how you disconnected from the internet. If so, then that’s the first sign you’ve done this correctly! Check your inventory for the items you dropped earlier. Are they there? That’s the second sign! 

Step 6

Head back to your friends island using the same Dodo Code as before. Once you’re there, get your friend to drop the items they picked up from you earlier. If they have the item too then you’ve done it!

This duplication exploit is fantastic if you have a stack of 30 gold and you duplicate it. If you want to use the exploit again you’ll either need to wait 24 hours or have the host, your friend, time travel by one day (by changing the date on their switch). Have fun and get duplicating, who knows how long we have until this is patched!
