He went on to estimate that the development team behind Final Fantasy XIV has a work capability of 85 to 90 percent in recent weeks compared to its usual capability in office as the pandemic runs into the months citing work from home issues regarding network issues, reduced debug efficiency and general stresses of having to adapt to a current trend in working from home. Something the team promises to work on as time goes on.

The patch also looks to continue the NieR:Automata crossover event plotline with 2P.

The delay comes after Square Enix were also forced to cancel it’s North American iteration of it’s Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival due to the pandemic, which was due to take place in November, North American fans can now look forward to a 2021 date for the event.
