Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild Beginner’s Guide

It’s already been over 3 YEARS since The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild came to the Switch and it’s STILL one of the console’s most popular games! Not got round to playing it yet? Well, you’ve put it off for this long but today’s the day! Here’s our (spoiler free!) Breath Of The Wild beginner’s guide to make sure you get the most out of the game from the very beginning! 

Keep Your Torches

No matter how tempted you are to discard a torch for the sake of a weapon, ALWAYS try to make sure you have just one on you. Torches are so incredibly useful, especially throughout the main quest! Just dedicating one slot to a torch can be a life saver! Secret top tip: don’t underestimate the overload of supplied torches while navigating the Lost Woods. 

Learn How To Cook!!

Breath of the Wild is the first Zelda game where cooking is even an option and I cannot tell you enough how useful it is! ALWAYS have several meals ready. No, not baked apples. Actual meals! 

No matter how low your heart containers are or how difficult an enemy is, if you have some hearty meals on hand then you have a much higher chance of progressing through the game! 

Don’t Bother Saving Precious Stones

It probably feels like something you should do, because you’ll probably need them, right? The thing is, you’re not going to need them until quite a bit later on in the game where you have some more stuff, and more money. By then, you’ll know where to go to quickly harvest them. When you first start, just sell the damn things and get some food and clothes! 

ALWAYS Buy More Arrows

This is probably the biggest piece of advice I could give, just constantly buy arrows. All the time. At every opportunity, buy more arrows. Buy arrows until you’re out of money! You can literally never have too many. 

For boss fights and for general enemies, having arrows could really save your skin.
