Today’s Nintendo Direct from E3 2021 saw a vast array of game updates and releases. So here we are to keep you up to date on the news!

Game Updates

The direct was first kicked off with another new addition to the Super Smash Bros Ultimate roster. If you’re a fan of Tekken then this character will be a great addition for you: Kazuya Mishima will join the battle on 28th June this year!

This is one for the anime fans out there, which can’t be few on a Nintendo article. If you’ve played the Danganronpa games then you’ll love this! Danganronpa Decadence is the collection of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2, and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony! Decadence also comes with an extended version of Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp from Danganronpa V3. The game will be out later this year!

There will also be a campaign expansion for DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods later today which marks the first expansion for the game! This is also only Part One of an unknown amount.

Very excitingly, an Expansion Pass will also be coming to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Wave 1, Pulse of the Ancients, will be out on June 18th with a new playable Guardian, new challenges in the Royal Ancient Lab, added weapon types, new enemies, and a new Apocalyptic difficulty level. There will also be a second wave coming out in November this year called Guardian of Remembrance which will bring a new character, new stages, expanded roster, and new battle skills for some of the existing characters!

Game Releases

This Nintendo Direct from E3 2021 brought an entire array of fantastic new releases, remasters, and ports to the Nintendo Switch.

The aforementioned lengthy-list begins with Life is Strange Remastered and Life is Strange: True Colours being ported to the Nintendo Switch later this year.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy by SquareEnix will also be joining the Switch game collection on October 26th of this year.

As someone who grew up playing these games on my dad’s phone, this was certainly a fun little announcement. Worms Rumble will be released on June 23rd but you can get it 25% by pre-ordering online which begins today!

We already know Nintendo loves its JRPGs so another game joining the already very long list isn’t too big of a shock. But Astria Ascending looks so stunning that we’re certainly hyped for September 30th when it arrives.

Another fun little addition to the Switch universe is Two Point Campus, joining the team sometime in 2022.

This was another childhood favourite for those of us who were kids when the earlier games came out. Upon its 20th Anniversary, Monkey Ball will be getting another game but for the Nintendo Switch! Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania will roll onto Switch on October 5th.

Classics are clearly a theme for this direct. Mario Party Superstars is coming out on October 29th. The game includes boards from some older games such as Peach’s Birthday Cake and 100 mini games to choose from. It also supports Online play!

You may remember Metroid Prime 4 being announced before which is a great announcement. But more exciting is the 5th installation of the series being released on the Nintendo Switch on October 8th under the title: Metroid Dread!

As always, Nintendo has split up the major announcements with smaller or regular ones between them. Right now we have Just Dance 2022 splitting the big leagues but it stands alone since it has 40 new tracks! You can never say no to a dance-off at a gathering if it’s on Just Dance.

If car games are your thing then maybe this will be right up your alley! Cruise ‘n’ Blast will be coming this Autumn and it even supports up to 4 players.

Anime lovers, sit down for this one. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be released on the Nintendo Switch on 24th September this year! Explore the world, help locals, train, cook and gather, and fight! That isn’t all though, the game also comes with a new power awakens set.

With fans all around the world, the new Monster Hunter game was a brilliant headliner in the Direct. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin brings a larger world, gathering and crafting, and fight monsters in turn-based battles. It also has online co-op play. You can get your hands on all this on July 9th!

You may be familiar with WarioWare, but the new WarioWare Get It Together game compiles some of the mini games from old WarioWare games with added multiplayer! The game may not come out until September 10th but pre-orders begin today.

Explore the demon-infested world and destroy the hostile ones in Shin Megami Tensei 5 coming out on November 12th!

Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water has also been announced to be coming to Switch later this year.

I’ve been meaning to play these games for the longest time and now that they’re coming to the Switch I might actually be able to get around to it! Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is coming to the Switch on June 25th. The new games will also support local and online play!

WoW Classic Carry

Defeat mummified corpses and solve various puzzles in Strange Brigade releasing later today!

We were expecting a new Mario game and we somewhat got one! Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope sees a new evil that needs to be defeated and more playable characters upon its release in 2022.

Advance Wars 1 + 2 is being remastered for the Nintendo Switch and comes out on December 3rd. Enjoy pre-ordering beginning today!

This next announcement was incredibly surprising and pleasant all the same. Nintendo announced a new mini system called the Game & Watch to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the beginning of the Legend of Zelda series. You can play three of the oldest games including The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. The Game & Watch also has an interactive clock and timer where you can more Link around and comes out on November 12th so not long now!

Finally, some new Breath of the Wild 2 footage was shown… Unfortunately no new information was actually told but some bits can be inferred by the footage! From the clips we noticed an upgraded Stasis ability, a new ability where you can melt through floors, and new enemies. They also said that they aim for the game to be released in 2022!

This years Nintendo Direct from E3 2021 was super successful and we’re very excited! What did you think?
