Top 10 Epic Weapons In Breath Of The Wild

Breath of the Wild was released over three years ago, and arguably still stands as one of the greatest games of all time. There are so many brilliant and creative aspects worth recognition and one of those is definitely the wide range of weapons!

With swords, bows, axes, and so many more to choose from, it’s difficult to decide which to put in the pre-set eight weapon slots! So here’s my top 10 favourite weapons to choose from that will make the game so much more fun!

10. Torch

Odd choice I know, but don’t underestimate the importance of having a torch on hand! You’ll never know how many times you’ll come across a task that requires the transportation of fire and will have to use intensely low-durability branches instead.

Even fairly early on with Locked Mementos, It’s always a good idea to just have one on hand whenever possible. And if that doesn’t do it for you then the thought of setting things on fire will. Remember: fire bad!

9. Boko Club

The Boko Club certainly isn’t anything particularly special, its attack level and durability aren’t great. However, the reason I would suggest that you keep a Boko Club on hand is for the moments where you don’t want to use your more impressive weapons! Perhaps you need food and you’re trying to get some meat? You certainly don’t want to use a weapon that has some value.

8. Boulder Breaker

This is easily one of the weapons in Breath of the Wild that people will love, right off the bat. It’s got a great attack level and is a heavy metal so it does well against high strength enemies. Personally, however, I love this particular weapon because it’s got a great use that’s different to most of the others.

Since it’s a heavy two-handed weapon, it’s amazing at manual labour such as mining or even hitting an object while it is frozen in time. Oh and you can play Goron golf with it! This is definitely a weapon I suggest keeping hold of.

7. Ancient Arrows

Ancient Arrows are incomparably valuable, especially later in the game! Ancient gear is incredibly useful against enemies such as Guardians, you can even kill them in one shot.

A top tip would usually be to aim for the eye, but when using Ancient Arrows, you can do just as much damage just hitting them. Get some stocked up as soon as you can and keep them on hand! Towards the end of the game these will be even more useful, trust me.

6. Lightscale Trident

Spear are my absolute favourite weapons in Breath of the Wild, they control so easily. You always know exactly how many times you are hitting your enemy and it’s a really fun tool to use to hit someone off of an edge with (especially when they’re an annoying moblin). The reason this one is at number 6 is because of the story behind it.

You have to defeat Divine Beast Vah Ruta in the Zora domain in order to get the Lightscale Trident and in the process you learn a lot about the Zora princess, Mipha. This champion’s story was touching to me so this Zora spear is a favourite.

Great Eagle Bow

Bows are a great way to get shots to enemies without actually having to deal with them directly. If you can get a good hiding spot, you can even kill off quite a few without them ever seeing you.

The Great Eagle Bow is a great option because it has extremely good range and attack level, you can get some pretty hefty damage from a distance. You can get the Great Eagle Bow by defeating the Divine Beast Vah Medoh that troubles Rito Village.

4. Royal Claymore

Two-handed swords aren’t my usual, I like having the option for a shield, but the Royal Claymore is something different. It’s an extremely heavy weapon so it deals a hell of a lot of damage, 52 to be exact.

That’s enough to wipe out a few bokoblins in one hit! This one is a great sword to have because even though it’s a two-handed heavy sword, the swing time isn’t that bad compared to most other two-handers.

3. Guardian Sword++

Firstly, Guardian Swords in general are great weapons in Breath of the Wild. A normal Guardian Sword deals 30% extra damage to Guardians and paired with Ancient Gear, it gets an extra 80% damage increase.

Then when you get a hold of the Guardian Sword++, it boosts the abilities of the Guardian Sword to the maximum. According to the weapon description in-game, “it slices through armour like a hot knife through butter!” If butter is a guardian, then it’s certainly true!

2. Master Sword

Obviously the Master Sword had to feature here. The Master Sword is brilliant, purely brilliant. It has a base power of 30 which increases to 60 when Link fights Calamity enemies.

It also doesn’t break and is the only weapon within Breath of the Wild that doesn’t do so (it does lose power though). It also has an awesome ability where instead of throwing the sword, you can cast a sword beam. It only deals 10 damage but it looks pretty damn cool!

1. Royal Guard’s Spear

As I previously mentioned, I love using spears. They just control so, so well and it makes using them so much more enjoyable. The Royal Guard’s Spear also happens to have the highest base power of any spear at 32.

Its durability is fairly low but if you save this weapon for more difficult fights then it can last much longer! The Royal Guard’s Spear deserves the spot at number 1 because it has such a high base power and is such a fun weapon to use. Definitely give it a try if you get the chance!

Unlike all the previous Legend of Zelda games, Link has access to an incredibly wide range of weapons! This is such a brilliant aspect of the game but it makes deciding which ones to use super difficult! Hopefully this list has helped you pick some that you’d like to find and use. I definitely recommend getting the Master Sword and the Royal Guard’s Spear, they’re totally worth the trouble!
