Insanely BROKEN Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet
Whether you want to crush your friends and embarrass them, beat Raid Pokémon with ease, or just smash through the harder parts of the story, here are 6 insanely broken Pokémon that will help you get there.
GLIMMORA
Glimmora is a support Pokemon that everyone needs at the top of their team. Possessing an ability called Toxic Debris, Glimmora scatters poison spikes when hit by a physical attack. Meaning whenever your opponent switches their Pokémon in and out, their Pokémon will be poisoned. If Glimmora gets hit a second time, Toxic Debris will take effect again and more poison spikes will be scattered around the enemy team, causing any affected Pokémon to become badly poisoned.
But that’s not all. This is where things get really interesting!
Furthermore, Glimmora can learn the moves Stealth Rock and Spikes, both of these moves damage the opposing Pokémon when they’re brought out, AND both of these moves can be used alongside the double dose of poison spikes that Toxic Debris triggers. This means you’ll have 4 sets of spikes waiting for the enemy team which gives you the upper hand with every battle for the rest of the fight.
Additionally, if you give Glimmora Black Sludge to hold, it will heal every round. Then I’d recommend putting everything into growing its defence and special defence stats. This will ensure that you can keep it alive long enough to get all four spikes out onto the battlefield.
You could then sit back and spam Acid Armour to sharply raise Glimmoras defence and watch each enemy Pokémon slowly lose health to poison.
Or, if you’re up against a difficult opponent, once you’ve got out all of your spikes, using memento and swapping to a sweeping Pokémon can be a solid strategy.
MAUSHOLD
This absolute monster is Maushold, the ridiculously broken little mouse family Pokémon.
Once you get Maushold up to 53 you’ll get the absolutely overpowered move Population Bomb. For those that don’t know, Population Bomb is a move that does 20 damage and can hit up to 10 times with a 90% accuracy rate, so you’ll likely hit up to 9 times most of the time.
However, giving the item Wide Lens to Maushold will bring that accuracy right up, and you’ll be landing all 10 hits pretty much all of the time.
The second way to boost this beast of a Pokémon is to use an Ability Patch, which will change its current ability to its hidden ability – Technician.
Technician gives a 50% boost to all moves with the power of 60 or less. So now you’re looking at 40 points of damage per hit, and 10 hits in total. That’s 400 damage which is absolutely ridiculous.
Just remember that Population Bomb is a physical attack so you’ll want to make sure you use a Nature Mint to give a boost to its attack. Lowering the special attack will be fine here because you’ll only ever really be using Population Bomb.
KROOKODILE
Krookodile is a beast and can sweep most teams without fail. If you’ve got a turbo controller, this is the Pokémon I’d use to do the ace academy tournament exploit with. Krookodile is broken for the amount of damage it can deal and the fact it keeps getting stronger during the battle. If you max level it, give it a Nature Mint to boost its attack (again, lowering special attack wouldn’t matter here) to well over 300.
Teach it the move Crunch which is a hefty move, likely to one or two shot most Pokémon. This is where things get interesting. Each time you beat a Pokémon, Krookodiles ability Moxie will boost its attack stat, which will make that two-shot move a one-shot move. It’ll just keep going like this until you wipe out the enemy team.
Now, you have two really good choices for held items to further boost Krookodile. Firstly, the Clear Amulet will stop any Pokemon moves or Abilities from lowering Krookodiles Attack stat which is important when you’re trying to sweep an enemy team without interruption. Another good item to hold would be the Black Glasses which give a boost to Dark Moves, giving crunch that extra bit of power. If I’m honest, I’d recommend the amulet over the glasses as you won’t need the extra power from the glasses once the process gets going.
There’s also the item Metronome which boosts the power of moves used in a row, it eventually gets up to a 100% boost in power, but again, I’d recommend sticking with the amulet.
ARBOLIVA
Arboliva is probably the most frustrating Pokémon to go up against. Plus, it’s a healing machine and a complete beast when it’s on your side. Once Arboliva is hit, its ability Seed Sower will kick in covering the terrain in grass which will heal it each round. However, it may also heal any opposing pokemon too.
Dropping the move Leech Seed will also heal it each round whilst lowering the enemies health. Also, giving Arboliva the item Leftovers will also heal it each round too.
Finally, all that’s left to do is Giga Drain your enemies to death. Enjoy!
CHI-YU
Chi Yu is one of the legendary Pokémon available in Scarlet and Violet. It may look like a cute little goldfish, but this fishy has some bite! Chi-Yus’s ability actively lowers the special defence of every Pokémon on the battlefield and is activated right off the bat. What more is there really to say?! This gives you a huge advantage over every Pokémon you go up against for the rest of the battle.
To make things even better, Chi-Yu has an insanely high base stat for special attack to take full advantage of its ability. It is also a fire and dark type Pokémon and I recommend you get it in your party right now!
For info on exactly how to do just that, check out our short video HERE!
Finally, some moves that are worth adding to Chi-Yus move set include:
Flamethrower, Lava Plume, Dark Pulse, Snarl, Nasty Plot, Ruination and Psychic.
ANNIHILAPE
Annihilape hits hard. Really hard.
It has a lot of physical moves focused around punching, and that’s why you’re going to want to give it the Punching Glove, which, if you didn’t know, raises the power of punching moves.
Pair this with the move Rage Fist which is incredibly powerful. Where things get interesting though, is the more hits Annihilape has taken during the course of the battle, the more powerful Rage Fist becomes.
Fortunately, Annihilape has a great set of defense stats, so it’ll be able to take a beating in order to power up Rage Fist and then unleash hell upon the opposing Pokémon. You’ll want to use a Nature Mint that boosts attack and lowers special attack, as, you’ve probably guessed, you’re gonna be doing lots of punching. Did we mention punching?!
