Castle Crashers Remastered: XP Glitch

Castle Crashers is a 2D indie-style game where all the objectives are essentially: ‘kill em’ all!’ It’s much better when playing multiplayer or online but that doesn’t take the fun out of solo play. The game initially came out in 2008 with a remastered version released in 2015, but even after these many years, you can still rig the game in your favour with this xp glitch! 

Keep in mind that you can’t do this Castle Crashers xp glitch as soon as you start the game. To get started, you at least need a pet, a weapon that doesn’t have any elemental damage, and the left side of the map free. You also need the horn to unlock Hawkster as a pet. If you already have Hawkster, skip to Part 3 of this guide!

With a punch, smash, and bang, you can find out how to glitch your way into a heavy amount of XP! 

Part 1: Obtaining The Horn

Firstly, you need the horn in order to obtain Hawkster, so here’s how to get the horn:

Step 1 

Head to the Marsh level and play through the level until you get to the boss. 

Step 2

Once defeated, the villagers will hand you the horn as a thank you for saving them. 

Part 2: Get Hawkster

Now you need to get the pet Hawkster before you can continue on to the XP glitch.

Step 1

You’ll need to take a random pet and head to the Tall Grass Field. 

Step 2 

Fight off the enemies that you encounter as soon as you enter the level, you can see a horn sign behind them. 

Step 3

Once the enemies are defeated, you can blow the horn by the hut by pressing B on Xbox, circle on PlayStation, and A on Switch. Hawkster will emerge from the hut and will now be one of your usable pets. His ability is that he attacks enemies that are knocked down as well as retrieving food upon the death of an enemy.

Part 3: The Castle Crashers XP Glitch! 

Step 1

Head to the Thieves Forest level with Hawkster. 

Step 2

The glitch occurs about halfway through the level, by the river. You know you’re there when you see the 2 stone pillars are defeating a load of thieves. Some more thieves will spawn here and the best way to do this is by bringing all of the enemies to the corner except for one and killing them. You want to make sure you’re dealing damage to all but one. 

Step 3

If they start to separate just try to keep track of who you’ve damaged and only go for them until you have one left that hasn’t been damaged. 

Step 4

Force the remaining thief onto the lower platform. 

Step 5

Push him into the lower right corner. 

Step 6

Now for the move combo! Press A on Xbox, X on PlayStation, or B on Switch to jump. While in the air you want to perform a light attack using X on Xbox, square on PlayStation, or Y on Switch. Then while he’s down, you want to simply walk on top of him (don’t run) and press Y on Xbox, triangle on PlayStation, or X on Switch while he’s on the ground. 

Step 7

This mini combo will make Hawkster begin to attack the thief for 1-5 damage but having the enemy in the corner will get both of them stuck and almost infinitely deal 1-5 damage. 

So that’s how you perform the Castle Crashers XP glitch! It’s roughly worked out that depending on your level when you start the glitch, it should take 9-12 hours to level up the character to level 99. It may be a good idea to have this going overnight!
