Minecraft Mods That Simulate Ray Tracing WITHOUT Breaking The Bank

Minecraft is an age-old game that has satisfied many generations now and many more are to come. However, over the years expectations have increased. Mojang have added bees and horses galore but the graphics are almost the same as when I first booted it up in 2009. You can install certain graphics cards that allow you to beef it up, such as NVIDIA’s RTX card (ray tracing), but that costs £500+! Here’s some Minecraft mods you can download if you have a decent PC that will bring you as close to Ray Tracing graphics as possible!

You’re going to need to install OptiFine first.

Chocapic13

This is the first and possibly most important mod to add to your Minecraft experience because it allows you to download more shaders and realism mods, as well as making clouds fluffy. Which is important. Obviously.

Sildurs

This is my preferred shader mod, once you’ve added Chocapic13, because it looks amazing (check out the image below) and it performs amazingly.

PureBDcraft

This is a brilliant resource pack that adds a bit more realism but keeps the cartoon-ish feel. I love seeing optimum realism packs but I personally feel like it takes away from the ‘Minecraft experience’, this mod is the perfect compromise.

Better Foliage Mod

It does what it says really. When you install this mod the foliage, including trees, just looks awesome. Perfect for stacking onto this mod list!

Fancy Block Particles

This is less ‘realistic’ and more simply cool. This mod takes everything down to it’s individual particles meaning when you break a block it breaks into loads of individual particle blocks and looks cool.

Better Animal Models

Honestly, this is a great addition for cartoon-realism but if you feel bad AT ALL for killing the animals in Minecraft, don’t install! But also do because it makes the world look so much better. It’s up to you, man.

There’s a few alternative mods you can choose for even more realism. The Pulchra 128x resource pack (via the Pulchra official website) can replace the PureBDcraft pack. Downloading additional packs such as Recurrent Complex and First Person Render can also produce some exciting results. Most importantly, have fun experimenting with hyper-realism vs cartoon-realism using these mods!
