One of Sony’s flagship titles, Spider-Man is also one of the most popular platinum trophies on any Playstation console. Its easy difficulty, medium length and lack of missable trophies make for a very easy ride. Even the collectables grind at the end isn’t too bad, as Spidey’s top-tier movement controls never stop feeling amazing. It’s easy to see why this is so many people’s first platinum trophies. If you love AAA games, you should probably start here.

Free with every PS5, those lucky enough to actually get one have a very fun platinum ahead of them. Doable in 5 hours or less, Playroom is an amazing little collectathon that celebrates PlayStation history whilst showing off everything the DualSense can do. With no trophies dedicated to Time Trial mode (thank you ASOBI), you can smash this easy trophy list out in a single sitting. For PS5 owners, hunting this platinum is a no-brainer.

Bloodborne is an unusually hard game for this list, but its overall simplicity gives me an excuse to include this masterpiece anyway. With only one real missable trophy (read the guide!), and no grinding, Bloodborne is the easiest (and most fun) FromSoftware platinum. If you’re into souls-likes and want a challenge, Bloodborne is a straightforward, fairly long hunt. Just try not to bang your head against the wall during the Watchdog fight.

Any of the games from the excellent Reignited Trilogy could go in this spot, but I’ve chosen Ripto’s Rage, since it’s the best one (fight me, Year of The Dragon fans). Another easy collectathon trophy list, Spyro 2 is chock full of fun, one-off miscellaneous trophies. Almost every level has a trophy that rewards you for finding a secret, playing in an unusual way, or abstaining from setting those poor sheep on fire. Ripto’s Rage has a great, non-intrusive trophy list, and is a joy to complete.

The open-world PS4 game, in my opinion, God of War is also one of the best third-person adventures of the generation. But you probably already know that, judging by its titanic sales figures. The list comes with a little bit of a collectables laundry list at the end, but with no missable trophies, it’ll be smooth sailing all the way until journey’s end. It’s a good thing too, as you can sit back and enjoy the S-tier acting that permeates every corner of the game. It’s a pretty easy platinum all in all, but don’t blame me when you have to suffer against Sigrun though.
Resident Evil: Village

Difficulty: 6/10
Length: 25 hours
Village is the best Resident Evil game. As well as offending all the fixed camera angle purists, Village also melds together the perfect blend of the series’ past and present. The entire 10-hour runtime plays like a love letter to the franchise’s long and ridiculous history. While the platinum will take a good while longer than that, Village’s mountain of replayability will keep you coming back. I carried on playing for another 3 playthroughs, even after the 5 it took me to get the final trophy. If you’re a horror fan, you can’t do better than Village.

A metroidvania that feels like JoJo meets Mexican wrestling, Guacamelee! oozes style. The frantic slap of its combat and the commitment to its own silliness makes it one of the most fun metroidvanias of the genre’s revival. The list is your typical metroidvania affair, asking you to 100% the game, something you were probably already going to do if you’re the completionist type. There’s one technically missable trophy, but as long as you aren’t asleep, you’ll gain it naturally at some point over the 15 or so hours it’ll take you to wrestle your way to the platinum trophy.
And that’s it for the best games for beginner trophy hunters!
