Infinitely Reuse Items in Dark Souls Remastered

Are you tired of getting wrecked by a particular boss? Maybe this is your 30th playthrough and you’re just looking to ease the process a little. Whatever the case, this guide will teach you how to infinitely reuse items to get a huge power boost with very little effort.

How to Infinitely Reuse Items in Dark Souls Remastered

The Setup

The first thing you are going to want to do is go into your inventory. Ensure the item you want to reuse is at the top and your Estus Flask’s are just underneath.

This is not necessarily a requirement for this exploit to work but it will make things much easier and faster for you.

Any consumable item can replace the Estus Flask. But, that item will be consumed upon use. This is which is why we highly recommend using the Estus Flasks, as you can just restore them at a bonfire.

The items that work best with this glitch are things like Fire Keeper Soul (increasing Estus Flask effectiveness.) or a Boss/Large souls (giving you a large amount of souls.)

The Weapon

Next you are going to want to equip your weakest weapon. Yes you read correctly, your weakest weapon.

This is because you are not going to want to kill the enemies you will be fighting to make this work.

We recommend using the Straight Sword Hilt as it has extremely low attack and is your starting weapon.

Again this sword isn’t mandatory, so if you’ve already discarded it due to its terrible stats (we wouldn’t blame you) then just use your next weakest weapon.

The Courtyard

Now we need to find some convenient bad guys. You don’t need to do this against a particular enemy type but we suggest doing it against something weak just to ease the process; being close to a bonfire also helps.

With that in mind the Undead Parish bonfire in the Old Church is one of the best spots we’ve found.

As an added bonus Blacksmith Andre of Astora is just down the stairs from this bonfire. So if you’re going to be using your new found abundance of souls on upgrading your arsenal of weapons, this spot is perfect.

With all preparations complete it’s finally time to have some fun.

Go upstairs from the bonfire and continue along the path to a small outdoor courtyard. You’ll encounter three enemies.

One of the enemies is an archer. He tends to chill out to the right of the courtyard. You should head left to fight the two sword and shield users.

At this point killing one of the two skeletons will make your life a lot easier, allowing you to focus on one enemy at a time.

The Exploit

Now the fun starts. Initially this might feel a bit tricky to pull off, but trust me, you will get your rhythm down in no time.

There are two different ways to trigger this glitch and oddly each is more effective depending on whether your character is male or female.

For male characters you will want to use the parry method. To parry you need to wait for an attack and block at the exact moment it connects; this will block the incoming attack and put your opponent off balance.

So this is where the tricky part kicks in; during the parry animation (i.e. while the enemy is off balance from the parry,) you need to open your menu. Use whichever item you set at the top. Now reopen your menu and use an Estus Flask.

If done correctly you will consume one Estus Flask instead of the first item you used while still gaining the effects of the first item!

You Should Know

If the item you use is, for example, Soul of a Great Hero which grants 20,000 souls, and you begin doing the exploit with 20 Estus Flasks; that’s a crazy 400,000 souls in a matter of minutes!

For female characters, for reasons I honestly can’t explain, the best method is to use a backstab instead of a parry.

Backstabbing is really easy to pull off and it also has a longer animation than parrying, meaning this method is even easier than the parry method.

The same process you did when parrying also applies here except this time we are going into our menus during the backstab animation.

To backstab an enemy you simply need to get directly behind them, stay in melee range and use light attack (R1/RB) to perform the move.

As above during the backstab animation you want to go into your menu consume the first item and then immediately go back into your menu and consume a Estus Flask.

Doing this should grant you the exact same effect of consuming the Estus Flask instead of the original item. This allows you to repeat this process till your heart’s content.

And there you have it, a quick and easy way to infinitely use a consumable item to get an easy boost in the game. If it’s your first time or just alleviate some stress on your 50th playthrough (Which is madness!)
