PlayStation Players Can’t Download Their Early Access Copy of Sifu – Here’s Why

The early access copy of Sifu was supposed to be ready for download on PlayStation today at 1pm CET. But, instead, players were met with an expired countdown timer with no clickable download option. Players have paid an extra $10 for this early access edition of Sifu for no access at all, and are understandably upset.

Why Can’t Players Access Their Copy of Sifu?

The issue has been going on since the 4th February. Players were supposed to be able to pre-download the game ready for early access on the 6th. Unfortunately, access to the download wasn’t available.

In a tweet from the official Sifu Twitter account on the 5th February, the pre-download issue was acknowledged. The Tweet said that they were aware of the problem and that they were ‘currently checking the issue with PlayStation’. Unfortunately the pre-download issue wasn’t brought up again.

The official Sifu account then Tweeted today with a very similar message regarding the new issue, and assuring players that it’s being looked into by PlayStation.

Some players have reported their countdown timer jumping up to 13 days. This could either be another bug entirely, or a possible delay. We’ve not been given a clear reason as to why the Sifu early access download isn’t working, but once we have an update, we’ll post it here.

When Will I Be Able to Download My Early Access Copy of Sifu?

The official Sifu Twitter account Tweeted their acknowledgement of the bug, and have said they will have an update on the situation ‘very soon’.

Unfortunately, ‘very soon’ could be anything from a few hours to days.

UPDATE:

The official account has just Tweeted stating that there are teams investigating the early access issue, and will have it resolved shortly. They then added ‘we’ll make it up to you’, which could mean a partial refund, or some free in-game content.
